Precision Rifle Chambering Classes with the Viper

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

The Gold Standard of Shooting Rests

Starting weight for the Viper Rest is 35lbs. That's over twice the weight of an IBS light gun! It can be configured for any weight requirement. Just remember YOU have to carry it to the firing line! There are NO springs, nylon bushings, gears or pulleys to wear out and fail during a match.

For The First Time, You will NOT have your rest to blame!

Our Motto Is:

"If The Viper's Rest Moves Without You Moving It, Shoot Fast, Because Someone's Stealing It!"

Build Process

The bench rest can be fully customized!

  • After countless dollars spent on rifle rests that always lacked something in either design features, stability or quality of workmanship, I, like a lot of shooters wanted to make my own.

I've competed in the 1,000 yd. bench rest and F Class games for a number of years and have seen some really neat rests. Some worked and some didn't.

Some of the features of the Viper's Rest I've found in other rests. Some were designed by Mr. James Stewart, an industrial arts educator for 30 years and he did all the tooling and blueprint work. He also fixes everything I manage to break. Some of the ideas came from Mr. Norman Barber of Ontario, Canada, who is one of the top bench rest and F Class shooters in the world.

I started with a list of WANTS:

    • Stability

    • Functionality

    • Convenience

    • Classy Look

    • Turn heads on the range

    • Had to be a rock!

The Rest had to lock down tight.

All moving parts had to be immobilized without a chance of them coming loose.

That meant, my list of building materials could not contain nylon, plastic or sleeves to wear out, move or fail.

Only solid ALUMINUM, BRASS and STAINLESS STEEL would be the materials that I would have to work with.

THAT'S WHY THE VIPER'S REST JUST PLAIN WORKS!

  • The Standard Base Plate is 1" thick aluminum. We use a 7000 series, aircraft grade. With this base, the Viper's Rest weighs in at 35 lbs!

You won't need sand bags to hold the back end, of your rest, down anymore!

Ten (10) shell holders are custom drilled and reamed on each side, to accommodate either right or left hand shooters.

The bottom of each hole is center drilled thru the plate to eliminate anything from falling in and obstructing your ammo from sitting perfectly upright.

The base plate has a wide (14") X (18") foot print, to insure a stable platform.

All knobs are installed with a custom mated brass fitting that goes thru the base.

The Brass fittings are held in place with a cupped set screw in the sides of the base.

All brass fittings can be easily removed for cleaning, polishing and lubrication.

The entire surface is custom powder coated.

Baked at 400 degrees for an hour then two coats of clear coat are applied.

Baked for another hour and then cured for the most resilient finish possible.

  • The Mariner Wheel is the heart of The Viper Rest. It's 1" thick and 7" in diameter.

With the addition of chromed handles, it's a full 10.5" wide!

Course adjustment for elevation is smooth and effortless because the wheel rides on roller bearings.

  • Every knob or handle on the Viper's Rest is turned from solid brass. Each piece is finely knurled for a positive grip. "You can even use the handle for grating your favorite cheese”

Knobs can be customized for that distinctive look. Domed, Circular Patterns or even a combination of both, makes your rest an eye catcher! The addition of a flat center makes a nice place for your initials or a design of your choice.

  • The Center of Rock Solid Stability

1.75" wide for the extra stability needed for a rock solid foundation for your top.

Threads are precision cut to mate with your mariner wheel.

The Standard Post is 4" tall and will work for 100yds. to the farthest varmint you can see.

Center hole will accommodate any of your favorite tops.

Hitting it is up to you!

  • The Fine Elevation Adjustment Screw on the Viper's Rest is just that.

It's Not a speed screw. If you need to move up and down that far and that fast, then you're not on target to begin with!

The Viper's fine elevation adjustment screw gives you precise movement up and down. We accomplish this by turning the hardened, pointed insert concentric with the body of the screw. It can't do anything else but go straight up and down. The threads on the screw are cut as close to an interference fit as modern machining can accomplish. The screw is custom mated with a machined brass insert, that goes thru your Aluminum Base Plate. Brass on Brass and a small amount of clear grease and you're set to go.

  • We specialize in customizing "F" Class rests.

    • Custom powder coating.

    • Custom handles and knobs.

    • Custom tops.

For Stability and precision adjustments. We can rebuild your rest or modify what you desire

The Viper's Rest doesn't just work from the top of a bench.

You can't find a more stable platform to shoot from a prone position on the ground. With the addition of our 4" diameter F Class Feet, only an earthquake can move your rest!

  • All Powder Coating is now done "in our shop".

Customer may request any custom color.

A sample color must be enclosed with special orders.

We will endeavor to match the color as closely as possible.

We strongly recommend you consult your physician before ordering one of these babies! Custom all the way with matching brass knobs, oversized mariner wheel and a 1-1/4" base plate.

The simple fact is:

  1. Wind-age Tops have moving parts.

  2. They need to be taken apart, cleaned and greased or oiled because of dirt.

There is nothing worse than shooting your 65lb. heavy gun and getting clobbered by a 17 lb. light gun!

"Unless you're the one shooting the light gun."

They ALL have:

Springs, Nylon Guides and Sliding Rails, all of which will come loose sooner or later.

Most Heavy Gun Competitors have a mechanical rear rest, with windage and elevation.

The only thing a front rest with windage gives you is, one more place for movement when you don't want it.

The Custom Viper's Heavy Gun Top has no windage and nothing to clean, grease, come loose or wear.

It does have:

  • A 3/4" base plate as it's foundation.

  • Two side panels that put pressure on the sides of your stock to assist in straight tracking.

  • A bubble level, on the top, to help in your initial set up on the bench.

  • A rubber stop for the front of your stock for position repeatability.

  • Two solid, knurled brass knobs for tension on the bag ears.
